New Brothers To The Team

BI caught up with some of TXST's commits to check on their status and how their season has unfolded.

Stephan Johnson College Park HS (The Woodlands, TX)
In a season of close games, Johnson and his team ended the season 5-5 and enjoyed it as much as they could. Nicknamed "Ball Hawk" for his ability to pop up during games, he had 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries. Johnson keeps in close contact with Coach Craig Naivar every week along with his new team members. "Coach [Naivar] told me to be a leader and reach out to the other commits and I did. We are building chemistry and keeping up with each others seasons," said Johnson. He is impressed that with the short time in the Sub Belt they've [the Bobcats] become bowl eligible. "I like everything upcoming about TXST and find it amazing that they're bowl eligible." He plans on taking his official visit sometime in December.

Clarence Guidry Pfluggerville HS
Injuries left and right left this future Bobcat and his teammates with a 2-8 season and hopes to go into a better season next year with the Cats. The thing Guidry is most excited about is the opportunity Coach Fran is giving him of being able to play baseball for the Bobcats. "I'm very excited that he's letting me play baseball as well, I'll be on a football scholarship while playing baseball," said Guidry. He stays in contact with Coach Washington and says that there's no other school for him than Texas State.

Tryston Mizerak North Garland HS
After a disappointing season, Tryston Mizerak is only excited for his new journey. "We went 0 and 10. It was pretty bad. Our numbers were low, experience was low, and it felt like kids were just out there to play and not listen," said Mizerak. The 6'6" 275 lb OL said that when he visited TXST he "fit in". Mizerak keeps in contact with Coach Hudson and messages his fellow commits on social media to check up on each other. "We keep in touch on the reg. I can't wait to be at TXST, I fell in love with it and I like that the coaches are all about graduating and keeping up with our classes."
