Mustangs Dominate Bobcats

From the onset, SMU was too big for TXST to keep up with. Their size and talent led the Ponies to a 70-49 win on Wednesday evening.

Texas State simply didn't have the size or talent to push SMU. Add to that, the Mustangs shot a blistering 56% from the field in the first half, had a 14-0 run and forced TXST into 12 turnovers which would result in a 41-20 deficit at half.

Senior Forward Joel Wright led the 'Cats on the night with 21 pts. No other Bobcat scored more than 6 pts as the offense never got into gear.

The second half saw both teams put 29 points on the board respectively, but the 'Cats never really threatened for the rest of the contest. SMU finished shooting 50% for the game, won the battle of the boards 38-27 and dominated down low in the paint, 28-12.

SMU was led by Nic Moore who pitched in 16 points. Nick Russell added 14 and Yanick Moreira 11. Three Mustang players reached double figures.

Texas State now turns their sights to South Dakota next Monday the 25th with a tip off of 7pm from Strahan. The 'Cats will look to end their 4 game losing streak.
