Recruiting Quick Hits: 11.26.13

Texas State had over 40 recruits in attendance this past weekend for the WKU game and our staff is working hard behind the scenes to crank out the updates.

Here's the first group of recruiting updates from the trail as Texas State tries to close out it's 2014 class.

Byrne Bagget DE
The Coldsprings HS defensive lineman enjoyed his visit. TXST was one of the first visits (unofficial/official) that he's been on. He hadn't seen the renovations to Bobcat Stadium yet. "I like the new stadium, it was real nice and it looked like a good place to go to college." He met with the defensive staff and the coaches were also looking at his grades. Bagget does not have an offer but remains on the board.

Austin Krawczyk Ath.
An athlete from Kingwood HS, his visit was set up kind of quickly, but he too liked what he saw. "I loved it! It's a pretty campus. I liked the coaches and the student body, it was a nice visit." At the moment Krawczyk has no offers but is talking to smaller D1 schools in and out of the state. Currently he plays WR and Safety for Kingwood and uses his 4.5 speed. Does not have an offer, is still being evaluated.

Brian Hine LB
The OLB Could be close to an offer. The sophomore from Cisco JC was impressed by the 'Cats. "The visit went great. I talked with the coaches, it was awesome. I got insight how the spring and offseason goes." Hine is a midyear transfer and will have 2 years left to play. He has an offer from Sam Houston State where he'll be taking an official visit this weekend. TXST, Virginia and McNeese State are all showing interest. Has a solid frame and speed to go with it.

Nate Grimm QB
With the 'Cats still looking to take one more QB, Grimm is squarely on the board. He wasn't able to make the trek to San Marcos, but remains in contact with DB's Coach Jason Washington. He has offers from Sam Houston State and New Mexico State. Abilene Christian, Baylor and Texas State are showing interest. An offer from TXST would sit well with Grimm. "Texas State and Baylor are the two schools I wish I had an offer from. If Texas State offered, it would make me closer to my decision." The Cedar Park HS signal caller is leading his team against Port Lavaca Calhoun in a 3rd round playoff match-up Saturday afternoon. Coincidentally, the game will be played at Bobcat Stadium.
