More Recruiting Quick Hits

Texas State had over 40 recruits in attendance this past weekend for the WKU game and some who weren't able to make it in. Our staff is working hard behind the scenes to crank out the updates.

Here's more recruiting update as Texas State tries to close out it's 2014 class.

Matthew Tackitt- 5'11" 192 DB Lubbock HS
This senior Safety was all ready to go on a visit to the Cats game against WKU, but the West Texas Safety product got snowed in. He plans to set up an unofficial or official visit either after the season or bowl game depending on the Bobcats season. He talks regularly to Coach Johnson who is in charge of his recruiting area, but still has not received his 1st offer. This Lubbock product did visit Arizona in their game vs USC and is talking to Boston College. He has also received some interest from in state schools Baylor and North Texas. This weight room junkie wants to major in Kinesiology and considers himself a natural nickel back because he is confident in both his coverage and run stopping ability. Had over 100 tackles and felt offenses tried to stay away from him in the passing game.

Hunter Peterson- 5'11 185 DB Medina Valley HS
This safety prospect was set to visit Texas State also this past weekend but couldn't make it in. He wasn't quite sure if he finalized an upcoming visit but with his great desire to be offered a scholarship because he "loved it there," I don't see a reason why he wouldn't visit. He has been on campus before to be part of a few school related activities and from visiting friends. Hunter played a lot of linebacker this past season for team needs and he racked up 146 tackles, but figures with his size and speed he will most likely be at the Safety position. He was timed at a 4.56 forty during his junior year and probably says his best asset is being a run stopper with his play at linebacker contributing to that. He is a player that always wants to improve and for coaches to be straight up. He is still hoping for his 1st offer, but hopes TX St is the one.

Caleb Horton- 6'0" 170 WR Pflugerville HS
This receiver prospect is planning on making a visit to Bobcat Nation as early as this weekend. Coach Washington would like to sit down with Caleb and go over some things such as transcripts and other stuff. He has been on campus before with his current teammate/friend and current commit Clarence Guidry. He would love to continue the "10 years we have been playing together." This trip he is including his mom and feels he would commit if he was offered. He likes the campus, classes, atmosphere and the proximity to home of TXST. This receiver can play all the positions of wide out and flashes his 4.4-4.5 speed. He hasn't received any offers yet, but has received interest from Missouri, Oklahoma State, Prairie View A&M, along with TXST.

Henry Paul- 6'2" 240 DE S. Grand Prairie
This quick twitched DE with a self reported 4.7 forty time and 375 pound bench press currently holds an offer from Nevada, but has received interest from TXST, Abilene Christian, Ark St, SMU, Arkansas, and Central Arkansas. He was scheduled to visit TXST this past weekend, but had a scheduling conflict and couldn't make the visit. He has never been to Bobcat country, but that is going to change because he currently has scheduled a Dec. 10th visit. He hasn't had any other visits and is now going to start since his senior football season is now complete. When asked if distance is a factor he said, "I'll do what I have to do," so that pretty much answers it. He wants to become a football coach in the future so coaching staff and program are a big selling point to him. Henry says his best asset on the field would be his run stopping ability.
