Troy Too Much For 'Cats
exas State lost in Alabama to the Troy Trojans on their short week. The 3rd different QB started in the last three games of the season. Duke DeLancellotti in his senior year tried to lead the Bobcats to a winning record, and their last long shot at a bowl appearance but came up short at Troy. DeLancellotti wasn't the most efficient, but he did have a hand in all 4 TD's. He completed 11 of 31 with 2 TD's and an interception.. He also rushed 17 times for 72 yards, the most rushing yards all season for a Texas State QB, and added 2 rushing touchdowns to finish what most likely is his final game as a Bobcat. The running back corps consisted of only Franks and Lowe this time. Combined they rushed 20 times for 160 yards and averaged 8 yards per carry. The running game was relied on heavily, with Texas State rushing for 38 attempts to the 31 passes on the day. Texas State's receivers combined for 192 yards through the air. However, there were a handful of dropped passes including one in the end zone intended for Brandon Smith on 4th and 5. That play would have tied the game just before the half, but the 'Cats instead trailed 21-14 after two quarters. On the year Texas State ended the season 0-5 when trailing at half. On the other side of the ball, Texas State gave up over 460 total yards, 297 receiving and 164 on the ground. Both QBs, Anthony and Robinson were held to 5-13 on third down, but they still completed 21-27 with no picks and 3 TD's. Texas State and Troy both ended the season at 6-6, both bowl eligible. However Texas State finished on a losing trend (3 in a row) and a 2-5 conference record. This concludes the Bobcats' regular season and most likely any outside chances at a bowl berth. The staff will turn it's focus to recruiting, preparation for Spring Ball. Stay here as BobcatIllustrated will lead the charge on all recruiting news and coverage of Texas State athletics.
