QB Target Identified

With Texas State losing 2 senior (Arndt & DeLancellotti) QB's , it's been expected for the staff to target 2 signal callers for the 2014 class. One QB is already committed and now BI has learned of another target.

On the current roster, Tyler Jones and Fred Nixon will be the elder statesman at quarterback next season as sophomores. With Jones the only one of the two with playing time and some experience, it makes all the more sense why the staff has gone the juco route for this target.

Randy Price, a 6'2" 200lb Dual Threat QB from Tyler Junior College was extended an offer on Tuesday and is now in the works of trying to set up a visit.

"They (Texas State) just jumped on me the day before yesterday. Texas State called and did offer me. They want me to come down for a visit. I'm planning to take an official next weekend, the 13th," said Price.

He admits that picking up an offer from the 'Cats was a bit surprising, but rewarding.

"As far as football I'm not that familiar with them. I went to a basketball camp at Texas State a few years back. I went online to check it out and I'm going to wait for my visit to see what it's all about down there," said Price.

TXST is his 1st offer. Texas A&M-Kingsville and Midwestern State have shown recent interest.

Price is schedule to be a mid year transfer and will have 2 years to play 2 at the D1 level. As he gears up for his visit to Texas State, one visit could do it for him to make the call.

"If I like it, I most definitely can make a decision. It's close to home and they'll give me a chance to go in and win a job," said Price.

Price comes from spread systems going back to his high school days in Waco. He ran a similar system at Tyler JC and could envision himself using his 4.6 speed at a program like Texas State who runs a variation of the spread/zone read.
