2015 DE On The Radar

One of the states top defensive ends for the 2015 class is already on the Texas State recruiting radar. He took in the 'Cats last home game of the year and we have an update.

If you haven't heard the name yet, Tyrell Thompson, get used to it. The 6'3" 255lb specimen already has some marquis programs after him. Texas, Oklahoma, Houston and Missouri are just some of the BCS schools who have already started recruiting him.

The Copperas Cove D-end made the trek with his family down I-35 to catch the Bobcats last home game against Western Kentucky. Despite the freezing cold and end result on the field, Thompson was impressed with Texas State.

"It went really good. I felt really at home with Texas State. At my school people say Texas State is a party school, but from my perspective I liked it. From their facilities to how they're really organized. At Copperas Cove it feels like one big family and I felt that way about Texas State," said Thompson.

Since his visit, the staff has stayed in touch. They've made it clear that they're very interested in him and are going to be recruiting him.

Along with his impressive frame, he has good quickness off the edge. His most recent 40 time, he turned in a 4.7. He's got size, speed and athleticism.

There's no off-season for Thompson as currently he's suiting up for the Bulldogs basketball team. Once he finishes the basketball season, he'll have a little time before getting ready for spring ball.

Thompson didn't have his exact stats on hand when we spoke, but he did say he finished with 50 tackles, 8 TFL's and 1 blocked punt on the season.
