Juco DE Will Visit

There's been a recent run on defensive line talent by the Texas State staff over the last two weeks. Well that run continues as we've confirmed a Juco DE will visit in January.

Roosevelt Pearson is a 6'5" 255lb defensive end (Mount San Jacinto JC) who excels in getting to the ball carrier and uses his 4.5 speed to close and make plays. It had been a while since he heard from Texas State, but just last week the coaching staff stopped by and paid him a visit.

"The coaches stopped by and talked with me and my family last week. He said I would be a good fit for TXST, being a blitzing DE I would fit in well," said Pearson.

Pearson set up his visit to the hill country for January 17th. Shortly after he'll then be taking an official to New Mexico the following weekend. He's still trying to work things out, but it appears that Arizona State of the PAC-12 is trying to get him in for a visit too.

He will be a May transfer and wherever he chooses, Pearson will have 2 years left to play 2.

At this point and time, Roosevelt is really zoned in on the football aspect of his recruitment, so he knows what he wants in a program that's looking for his commitment.

"I'm looking for a university that fits me football wise. Great coaching and getting me playing time," said Pearson.

Even better news for Texas State, Pearson did list his top 3, in no particular order and the 'Cats are right there at the top: Texas State, Arizona State and New Mexico.
