Official Visitors

The coaching staff will be hosting five recruits on their official visits this weekend. Three of which have offers. Included in this group is a coveted defensive tackle. We have the latest scoop on which prospects are thinking commitment.

This is the final recruiting weekend for mid-year Juco transfers and high school prospects will have a dead period until January 15th, 2014.

Four of the five official visitors are coming from the Juco ranks and are eligible to transfer mid year. Here's our breakdown of the talent in San Marcos this weekend.

Randy Price QB – Tyler JC (OFFER)
The dual threat QB is very high on the 'Cats. With one spot left at QB for this class, it'll be interesting to see if Coach Fran and staff go the juco route at QB or if they still push their luck at the high school level. Could very well be one of the next commits if things work out.

Parrish Huddleston DT – North East Mississippi JC (OFFER)
D-tackle is a position of dire need for the 'Cats this class. This 6'2" 290lb target has told BI that he's down to UAB and Texas State as his 2 finalist. He visited UAB last weekend, so now it's up to the 'Cats to make an impression. Is extremely quick off the ball, uses his hands well and accelerates to the ball carrier. Will be deciding shortly after his visit.

Brian Hine LB – Cisco College
An athletic linebacker who visited the campus unofficially in November. Now he's back for an official visit. Has not been offered yet, is at the top of the board and depending how things shape up, could be in line for an offer.

Darnell Dailey, Jr. LB – Contra Costa JC (OFFER)
Another juco prospect very high on Texas State. He's a 6'2" 230lb OLB who can flat out play and runs from sideline to sideline. Earlier in the week he told BI that if everything goes well on his visit he could see himself committing.

Conor White QB – Fork Union Military Academy Prep
Originally from the state of Georgia, he chose the prep route and spent the past year at Fork Union. Has a good frame of 6'5" 200lbs and can fling the ball over the field. Does have some scrambling ability, but isn't a pure dual threat QB. Like Hine, he's taking his official visit, but does not have an offer yet. It appears it's between White, Price and Lawson who are vying the last QB spot in this class.

This weekend can be a very productive one for Coach Fran and his staff. If the 'Cats catch fire again on the recruiting trail, don't be surprised if they come out of this weekend with 3 new commits.
