Searching For OL and DL (Part I)

This our first part in a two part series, going in depth as to who's left in the coaching staff's search for o-lineman and d-lineman. First up, we focus on the targets, tomorrow we'll look at prospects.

Ideally Coach Fran and his staff would like to add at least two more defensive lineman and one o-lineman. Over the last few weeks our staff has had a beat on who's a target with a legit offer.

(Defensive Ends)
Roosevelt Pearson (Mt. San Jacinto JC)
Has Texas State in his top 3. Is a long rangy d-end who creates havoc off the edge and can get to the quarterback. At 6'5" 255lbs, is your prototypical D1 sized DE. Is visiting San Marcos on 1/17, but then trips to New Mexico on 1/24.

Sekou Clark (Denton Ryan HS)
A high school target who is quick off the edge and attacks the QB or ball carrier. Is athletic and quick. Has a nice upper frame to hold the point, will need to get stronger at the D1 level. Nothing has been set in stone for a visit. Is a 3 Star prospect, ranked as the 53rd best DE in the nation.

(Defensive Tackles)
Bryson Johnson (North Dakota State College of Science)
Is planning to visit TXST this month on an official. Is the run-stuffing DT that this class is lacking, at 6'4" 295lbs he has the ability to take on multiple blockers, shed them and clog the middle. He does surprise with his quickness at times to get through the line and make a play in the backfield. Is visiting Tennessee State on 1/17.

Toni Pulu (Mesa JC)
The newest target to be identified and is being targeted to play inside on the D-line. He's versatile where he can play outside if needed and shows quickness at both positions. His 6'3" 270lb frame could add more weight to withstand the pounding on the interior. As a pass rusher he has ability, from his DT spot he registered 9 sacks this past season. Will be visiting Texas State on 1/17, has already visited Utah State and FAU.

(Offensive Line)
Willie Wright (Cypress Ridge HS)
An interior O-line target who has been in constant contact with the staff. In an update two weeks ago, Texas State made his final 5 and he was in the works of setting up a visit. Others feel the Bobcats are in his top 3 with a lean for his commitment. At 6'3" 280lbs, shows good strength and plays with a nasty streak to punish opposing D-lineman. Can play guard or center, but is being targeted as a guard.
