2015 Recruiting Update

It's no surprise that recruiting is a 12 month 365 day job. The TXST staff is trying to close out it's 2014 class and get a jump on 2015 too. Here are a couple of updates.

Jordan Tonkins- LB/DE RR Stony Point HS 6'1" 195
This versitile athlete from Round Rock area has got some early interest from the TXST Bobcats coaches. He visited and toured the campus and athletic facilities for their final home game of the season and liked what he saw. This athlete has done it all for his HS team playing: Running Back, Safety, Linebacker, and for his senior season his most prominent spot will be at Defensive End. Right now he is getting more interest from colleges for academic scholarships then for his play on the football field. He wants to go to a school and major in Sports medicine or physical therapy and might not want to go to such a big school. So we'll see if Texas State continues to pursue this young man over the next few months.

Kerry Walker- OLB Shoemaker HS 6'3" 220
This versatile defensive presence likes to compare his game play to a Jason Pierre Paul type of rangy athlete. He hasn't received any offers yet, but he has received interest from programs such as Oklahoma, Tulsa, Oregon State, and TX State. He has already visited Bobcat country for the Western Kentucky game and said, "He would love to play there" when talking about the TX State program. He loved the environment and looks forward to seeing more of the campus when he comes to TX State for Junior day next month. We will keep in touch with Mr. Walker after Junior day and see if he receives an offer.
