Commit #24

Texas State Head Coach Dennis Franchione and his staff picked up a critical defensive tackle commitment from this weekends group of visitors.

On Friday night, our staff checked in with Mershad Dillon of Hancock JC (CA). He was enjoying his visit and having a great time. A decision had crossed his mind as dinner approached, but he either way he wanted to go home, talk to his family about it and go from there.

His visit went so well that shortly after our talk, he decided to pledge to the Texas State staff. Dillon is a 6'1" 290lb D-tackle who is exceptionally quick off the ball and uses his hands very well to get past offensive lineman.

Here's some key notes on his speed. As a senior in HS he played QB as well as the defensive line. He was timed at an 11.2 second 100 meter dash. In the 40, he ran a 4.67.

Originally he committed to Fresno State and enrolled in 2011 and then bounced back, ending up at Hancock JC in Santa Maria, CA. In a few months he'll be making his way towards a new home, San Marcos, Texas and using that size and speed to terrorize opposing QB's.
