Taking Official Visit
As a student athlete, deciding where you could possibly spend the next 4 or 5 years of your life is one of the most important decisions you'll ever make. So one can understand why a 17 year old young man can go back and forth and only try to weigh every single option. Stephan Johnson (College Park HS), one of Texas State's longest known commits, over six and a half months ago when he pledged to the Bobcats, will be on campus starting Friday afternoon to finally take his official visit. The 6'0" 180lb safety commit is looking forward to it and has no nerves about it at all. "I want to see all of my future teammates, get to know them more and build that bond," said Johnson. There have been whispers of Johnson potentially still wanting to take another visit after Texas State, so we asked Stephan where his recruitment stood. "Me, my parents and the Texas State coaches are talking about that. We're just keeping it between us on whether there will be any other visits after Texas State," said Johnson. One school that did have Stephan's eye was Army. The Black Knights were in consideration for a visit, but things have changed somewhat. "I have an uncle who coaches up there, but after Coach Ellerson got fired, I'm not so sure now. My uncle is probably going to move on to somewhere else," said Johnson. Last year for College Park HS, Johnson earned All-County and All District 14-5A honors for his play. He sneered 5 INT's and was credited for 4 PBU's. You can see why the Texas State staff likes Johnson at the free safety spot. He can be a ball-hawk.
