It's been consecutive weekend's of recruiting success for Texas State yielding 5 commitments, (Pulu, Dillon, Schoenborn, Guendling, and Pearson) all in the trenches over the last 2 weeks. Those additions offset the de-commitments of Chris Bradley, Tillman Johnson and Patrick Reed. As is always with recruiting, you win some and you lose some, but the Texas State Staff has done their part to rack up a full class and more. The Bobcats will sign more than 25 if they can. Here's a look at three remaining targets Texas State is trying to close on: Dondre Elvoid DT 6'4" 315lbs (Garden City JC)
The defensive tackle just visited this weekend and really liked his visit to San Marcos. He is the run stuffing and wide bodied d-tackle that would equate to the cherry on top if he chose the Bobcats. On Monday afternoon he informed BI that it's between Texas State and South Alabama for his commitment.
Bryson Johnson DT 6'4" 295lbs (North Dakota State College of Sciences)
His commitment is as coveted as Elvoid's. He is set to be at Texas State this weekend for his official visit. It's the last weekend recruits can visit before NSD. Similar to Dondre, he is a space eater and would be a welcomed and needed addition to the class.
Willie Wright OL 6'3" 280lbs (Cy Ridge HS)
TXST Coaches really like Wright and are holding a spot for him. He visited two weekends ago and has narrowed it down to Fresno State and Texas State. He projects to the interior and the coaches love his nastiness and aggressive streak.
So, can Texas State take all 3? From what BI has been told, yes. Currently there are 2 DT commits in Toni Pulu and Mershad Dillon, but the staff wants all the beef it can get on the d-line and will make room. Willie Wright has a spot being held for him. Maximum, this class could end up at 28.
Now, it remains to be seen who will these three targets decide on.
