LB Gets An Offer
At around 1030 a.m. Thursday morning, Solomon Hunter, a 6'2.5" 220lb linebacker from SA Roosevelt received a surprising visit from Texas State DB's Coach Jason Washington. He let him know that they liked his film and wanted to offer him as a middle linebacker. "Coach Washington visited me in the morning, left and then came back with Coach Fran in the afternoon. Coach Fran told me they need a young linebacker, the senior linebacker is leaving next year," said Hunter. In general, over the last two weeks Hunter has picked up offers from Houston Baptist, Sam Houston State, Louisiana Tech and today, Texas State. "Recruiting is picking up a lot. It picked up so fast. It's going to be a crazy signing day. I'm glad I have these late offers," said Hunter. Newly hired La. Tech Defensive Coordinator Manny Diaz is personally leading the charge after Hunter. He recently visited him during a workout and made an impression on Solomon. He's set to head out to Ruston tomorrow morning. "I'm pretty sure I'm going to La Tech. This is my first time visiting. When I come back I can take an unofficial visit to Texas State. I've been up there so many times. My brother is there, Victor Hunter. He's a sophomore and is trying out for the team in the spring," said Hunter. So with NSD fast approaching, does Solomon have a favorite or is he leaning one way or another? "I'm approaching it, see how I feel every coach. HBU is saying I could start my freshman year and be used on offense and defense. I really liked the visit to HBU. I know what I'm looking for in a school. Whatever place makes me feel at home, I'll commit," said Hunter. Is there a chance he could make that decision before leaving Ruston this weekend? "If everything goes well, I could see myself committing," said Hunter. In a few days, we'll know if Solomon will still be in play for the Bobcats.
