Big Commitment

Going into the final weekend of recruiting, priority number one for the staff was to land a defensive tackle. Mission accomplished!

Right before 1 a.m., late Friday night, early Saturday morning, Garden City defensive tackle Dondre Elvoid let BI know that he had just spoken with the Texas State Coaching Staff and told them know that he was ready to be a Bobcat.

In a brief text, he made it pretty clear.

"I chose my school. Texas State!"

Evloid was the #1 d-tackle remaining on the board for Coach Franchione and his staff. His commitment was a coveted one. He is now the seventh defensive lineman to commit in the 2014 class and the third defensive tackle joining Toni Pulu and Mershad Dillon.

As a d-tackle, Elvoid is known for exploding out his stance, a good aggressive swim move and really uses his hands well to disengage from o-lineman. He's exactly what the 'Cats need to plug the middle at 6'4" 315lbs, but he brings another gear in being able to disrupt plays in the backfield and get to the QB from his spot.

In the end, Elvoid chose the Bobcats over South Alabama, a Sun Belt foe. Earlier on in the recruiting process he was also a one time commit to Western Kentucky.

Dondre's decision brings the Texas State class back up to 25 commits for the moment.
