Signing Day Surprise

Just when you thought Texas State was done with it's recruiting class, signing day brings one more surprise and it's a d-lineman who pledged to the 'Cats on Monday and has now signed his LOI.

Somethings are just left better unsaid in recruiting circles. Things were kept very quiet on Steven Eddings, a 6'4" 290lb defensive tackle, who visited San Marcos this past weekend. He really enjoyed his visit and as of Monday knew that he wanted to commit to Texas State.

"The visit went very good. I saw the facilities, I really liked the academics presentation, grades & graduation rate. I saw a lot of the city and I liked it. I had a good time in San Marcos," said Eddings.

It was Monday that Eddings knew he wanted to be a Bobcat, but the coaching staff needed to make sure that the numbers worked out.

Eddings is a defensive tackle but is more in the mold of a pass rushing, active d-tackle. He's more slender, lean and athletic than your typical space clogging DT.

His commitment and LOI now make 8 defensive lineman having signed with Texas State for the 2014 class. 4 defensive ends and 4 defensive tackles.

Steven is now ready to start the next chapter in his life and he'll arrive in San Marcos with 3 years to play 2.

"I'm excited because I'm going to go play for a great program and I am relieved, being that it's so close to signing day, and it's finally over."

Talk about Edding's commitment in our 'Cats Den Insider Forum.
