2015 DE Has TXST On Top

With signing day for 2014 now completed, this 2015 prospect is counting down the days until it's his time in the spotlight. His first offer is in and it's from the Bobcats.

Tyrell Thompson is a mammoth Defensive End out of Copperes Cove HS. It's been a few months since we last spoke with Thompson, so our staff decided to catch back up with him after he attended Texas State's most recent junior day and walked away with his first offer.

"Texas State is my first official offer," stated Thompson enthusiastically. He admitted that Texas was his dream school growing up, but after visiting Texas State a couple times he "feels at home." He raved about everything from the program, coaches, school, and the environment. The things that impressed him about the football program was that it made him feel like his high school where the team plays as one and feels the coaches are a big part of that.

During his junior day visit he really got to observe his potential position coach Mike Hudson. He sat in meetings and got to know him. The big part was when he went into Coach Fran's office and was extended an offer for the 2015 class. It was a big deal because it was his 1st offer and Tyrell just said he was "excited."

With me conducting this interview on national signing day it really motivated him to work on his game and trying to improve for his future. "Exactly a year from now is my signing day" he stated. Other schools like Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and North Texas have been talking to him as well, but at this point it seems like Texas State is the team to beat. It is his only offer so far and is still very early in the process.

The bobcats are reassured to have major competition from power conference schools for Thompson's commitment, but if first impressions are anything, the staff has come out swinging for the fences in the 2015 class.
