LB Gaining Steam

When you stand 6'1" 225lbs, and have sub 4.7 speed, it's only a matter of time before colleges start knowing your name. Some already do for this linebacker.

Of the eight current offers that Texas State has out, two are to linebackers. It might sound like a broken record already but the staff knows that the linebacker spot is critical for this class. Along with Jaylen Waters (Copperas Cove HS), the staff has offered Bo Anderson (Coppell HS).

Linebackers Coach Brad Franchione is the lead recruiter on Anderson and his ties go way back with his family.

"Coach Brad Franchione is recruiting me, he coached my brother at Blinn JC. I came down to Texas State for the junior day and they gave me some VIP service. He continues to talk to me, check up on me, ask about my SAT score and stuff like that," said Anderson.

Things are just starting to pick up for him. He did have an offer from Wyoming also, but with the new coaching staff he isn't sure if it's still on table. TCU, SMU and UTSA have all been in contact and want him at their junior days.

As a junior, Bo logged 119 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries and a pick. He's been playing varsity since he got the call up his freshman year. He's now a few months away from playing varsity ball all four years of high school.

Coppell HS runs a 3-4 defense and Anderson primarily lines up on the outside where he gets to roam and wreak havoc. For the next level, he really see's himself as a middle linebacker where he can fight off blocks, use his 225lbs to stuff holes and lay the wood.

The Texas State staff is identifying their key targets early and letting them know they have offers. In the case of Anderson who is sure to get more D1 attention, getting in their early never hurts.
