Opening Some Eyes
For the first time in his life last year Jaylen Veasley lined up on the defensive side of things. He previously played offensive tackle and center for Rockwall HS, but had good success in making the switch. As a junior he ended the season with 54 tackles, 5 TFL's, 3 FR's, 1 FF, and 4 sacks. Good enough for 2nd Team All District honors. Veasley plans on attending a lot of summer camps and has already taken in a few junior days at Tulsa, North Texas and Texas State. We got Jaylen's thoughts on how his visit to San Marcos went. "It was good. I talked to their head coach and d-line coach. It's a great campus, I really like their football program. It's a really big school and they said they're gonna keep in touch," said Veasley. Running Backs Coach and CO-OC Jeff Conway has been staying in touch with Veasley and checking up on him. Along with Texas State, Tulsa, Oklahoma State, Washington, Cal, North Texas, and UTSA are all showing interest in Jaylen. He plans on finishing out the school year and currently doesn't have anything else in stone for his next move. He's currently checking in at 6'2" 265lbs, with a recent 5.0 time in the 40. Veasley will look to get bigger, stronger and just anyway to improve on his game. "I'm a very aggressive d-lineman, but a little undersized at 265lbs. I have to really work my technique. Work my hands really well and really good at getting off the line. I have an engine that doesn't stop."
