Another QB Offer Goes Out
Look for Texas State to sign only one QB for this class and in the last two weeks the staff has identified it's top two targets out of the gate. Our juco football affiliate, JCFootball.Scout.com, broke the news when the 'Cats offered Daniel Fitzwater of Copiah-Lincoln JC and just this week they've locked onto Dual Threat QB Manny Harris of Copperas Cove HS. On Thursday, the Texas State staff let the 6'2" 215lb Dual Threat QB know that he was wanted and pulled the trigger. "Texas State is my 2nd offer. I expected it. They told me to be patient, that I was going to get one. Coach Tatum has been recruiting me," said Harris. UTSA and Texas State are the first schools to offer Manny, but many more are in contact and have told him that they'll be down to Copperas Cove to look at him later this spring. Houston, Baylor, Oklahoma State, North Texas and Utah State are just some of those programs. Harris doesn't have any other visits or Junior Day's set up. He is planning on taking an unofficial visit to Houston during the month of June. Last year was Harris' first year on varsity as a junior and it's almost a bit surreal on how now he's turning into a coveted QB prospect. He's getting ready for his spring and is enjoying all that's happening. "The process is a dream come true, and now it's finally here. We don't start spring ball until April 30th after most of the college programs have finished their spring ball so they can come see us," said Harris. Although he's enjoying the process and taking it in, Harris has already had discussions of when he'd like to have his decision. "My parents would like me to do it before football season starts to go into next season not having to worry about it. Just whenever I feel like it's time," said Harris. Texas State has gotten in early with Harris and will have to work to fend off some of those bigger programs lurking. So far the Bobcats have made really good impressions and Manny isn't shy about letting it be known. "I like that it (Texas State) has what I want to study, kinesiology . I like their stadium, Coach Tatum and they're Coaches a lot."
