SF Gets A Visit

Just over four weeks remain until the regular signing period starts (April 16th). Texas State has at least 3 scholarships to hand out. This juco wing is a main target of the staff's and we have an update.

On Wednesday, Texas State Head Coach Danny Kaspar and two of his assistants paid an in home visit to Lamar State-Port Arthur wing Jamal Shabazz.

The visit went well and it reassured that the Bobcat staff is doing everything they can to show him he's a top priority.

He's a big reason the Seahawks made a deep run into the post season, but fell just short after losing to Paris JC at the buzzer. You could understand why Jamal is trying to enjoy his spring break and do what most college kids are doing right now, have a good time.

"I don't have any real favorites, I've been trying to take a break with the season just ending. I'm going to start more in depth with the visits this weekend," said Shabazz.

Over the last few weeks, along with Texas State's offer, Evansville and Samford have also ponied up. UC Davis, Eastern Kentucky and Florida Gulf Coast University are other programs that are picking up their interest in Jamal as we inch closer to signing day.

Originally, Shabazz is from Pflugerville High School. It's about a 30 minute drive up I-35 from San Marcos and it's a factor that could prove big in his decision.

"I like Texas State. I've been their before, last season I checked out a basketball game. They're close to home and it's a chance for my family to come see my play."
