Ready For The Next Level

This mammoth offensive line prospect isn't from your typical Texas High School powerhouse and that's part of the reason why he's still waiting on his first offer. Texas State is keeping a close eye.

Bryce Wilds is a 6'7" 305 lb offensive lineman out of Brazosport HS in Freeport, Texas that has all the tools and potential to be the anchor for any team of his choosing.

Wilds currently is being recruited by Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, Arkansas, Texas Tech, Texas State, and Baylor. Although there are no concrete offers for him yet, the interest seems to be high and as time goes on the official offers are sure to come.

"I am a better run blocker than pass blocker, even though pass blocking is more my preference," said Wilds when asked about his playing style. "I am also a lot quicker than you would expect for my size."

In Bryce's Junior season he was named to the 2nd team all district and was awarded the MVP for his team on what was the best offense in the entire district. He is a huge physical presence and if you watch his highlights you will see his ability to bulldoze defenders and completely remove them from plays.

"I would like to go to a school that is close to home, but playing somewhere it will be a winning program is most important to me," Wilds said about what he is looking for in his selection.

"Promised playing time is not important to me, i am prepared to compete for and earn my playing time where ever i decide to go. I hate to lose and i don't want to go somewhere where i don't feel we have a chance to win," Wilds commented

Texas State Has a chance to break the ice and send the first official offer. They are both fairly close to home and a winning program. The Bobcats will have to put some work into it, but their emphasis on the run under Head Coach Dennis Franchione would be a perfect fit for Wilds.

Wilds visited Texas State for their Junior day last month and said that he really enjoyed his visit and the coaches are showing a lot of interest. Louisiana Tech, who he said has been talking to him a lot, and Baylor have also invited him to their Junior days, as wells as Texas Tech who has invited him to one of their Spring practices coming up. Surely one of these schools will issue an official offer, but only time will tell who will be the first.

Bryce has no timetable for his decision, and said he will take his time and evaluate all the details. Hopefully by the end of his Senior season he will have a better understanding of exactly where he wants to go and who is serious about bringing him to their program.
