Hoops Commit #3!

This quick footed, sharp shooting guard just visited TXST this past weekend and today he went ahead and made the call to pledge maroon and gold.

We first told you about Ethan Montalvo a few weeks back. The 6'0" 165lb combo guard from North Platte Junior College (NE) can play the point or man the two spot. He can be a field general with the ball in his hands or he can play from wing to wing in motion and ready to hit from long range on the drop of a dime.

Although he's not the biggest, that versatility and his ability to constantly drain the three is what really caught the staff's eye. Montalvo chose Texas State over offers from Texas A&M and Nebraska-Omaha.

On Wednesday evening he told our staff that Texas State was the front runner and less than 24 hours later, he put in the call to Coach Kaspar and his staff to let them know he wanted to be a Bobcat.

Ethan becomes the third commit of the 2014 class, joining early signees Austin Evans (6'11" PF/C) and Jonathan Wiley (6'5" SG/SF). The Bobcats still have at least 2 scholarships remaining to use in the regular signing period.

Talk about Montalvo's commitment in our 'Cats Den Insider Forum.
