Hoops Commit #4

Texas State has landed another commitment to their 2014 basketball recruiting class.

Jamarcus Weatherspoon, a 6'4" 180lb SG/SF from Kilgore College, committed to Texas State Head Coach Danny Kaspar over the weekend.

"I just loved the relationship with the coaches, the way they communicated with me," said Weatherspoon. "I loved the campus, it was an amazing experience. I love the school."

Weatherspoon is a natural 2-guard but will likely play both the shooting guard and small forward positions in Kaspars' offense.

"I know my role going in, I'm excited," said Weatherspoon.

One of the main factors for Weatherspoon picking Texas State was Coach Kaspar.

"He's a great coach, very similar to my current coach. All he wants to do is win and help me get better, that's what I want," said Weatherspoon.

Weatherspoon has very good athleticism and is extremely capable of getting to the hoop. He averaged 14pts, 5 rebs and 3 assists on the season for Kilgore. He also shot 35% from beyond the arc.

"I'm a very athletic player who plays above the rim," said Weatherspoon. "Offensive, I'm extremely aggressive in trying to get to the basketball while using my mid-range game."

Weatherspoon chose Texas State over UTSA, Troy, Little Rock Arkansas, and others.
