Spring Game: Maroon vs Gold

After 15 practices over a 4 week span, the Bobcats will be split into two teams to go at each other in the annual Maroon and Gold game on Saturday afternoon.

Tyler Jones will lead the Maroon team and Connor White will be at the starting helm of the Gold team. Look for the offense to push the pace in it's new up tempo style. Head Coach Dennis Franchione said this week that he'll be sticking with his guns and use the talented stable of running backs. The key is Texas State will try to be more efficient and productive in the passing game. Ben Ijah, Brandon Smith, Bryce Gunter and Demun Mercer are all wide receivers who have had their moments this spring.

On the defensive side, this will be BobcatNation's first time in seeing DC John Thompson's scheme in a controlled environment for 4 quarters. Over the last two weeks, LB Darnell Dailey has been a standout and has shown he's ready to contribute and help anchor the Bobcat "D". Safety Damani Alexcee and D-End Kris Peterson have also played well and will look to leave their mark for the final time this spring before turning in the pads for the fall.

The spring game will have (4) 10-minute quarters and have a 10 minute halftime. Festivities kickoff as early as 9:30am on Saturday morning, but kickoff is slated for 1pm. We'll have a full crew there and be sure to follow our live updates in our "FREE" forum.
