WR Gets First Offer

As a recruit, your first offer will be one that you never forget. This DFW wide out reeled his first one in and it's from the Bobcats.

On Thursday night of last week, our staff learned that Xavier Castille of Rockwall High School was now a target of the Texas State Coaching Staff. His recruitment started back in early February and the staff decided they couldn't wait any longer.

The first time I ever went to Texas State was for an unofficial visit on their Junior Day. Coach Schultz came up to me and let me know that they really liked me. I've been in contact here and there with Coach Johnson ever since. After the spring game Coach Johnson and Coach Brad Franchione let me know that I had an offer. My Coach had told me that they offered, but the staff wanted to surprise me at the spring game," said Castille.

His first offer could be the proverbial crack that breaks the damn. A lot of different schools are showing interest and Oregon recently let him know that they're looking at offering once he comes up for a visit. Iowa, Arkansas, Tulsa and Stanford are other schools that are recruiting the 5'11" 200lb wide receiver.

With some major programs showing interest, Texas State will have a tough fight on their hands, but getting in early and being first never hurts.

"They're my first offer. It puts a tender spot in your heart. I see Texas State being three and a half hours away from home. Not too far, not too close. They have a beautiful campus and they run the same exact offense my high school runs. It's very nice," said Castille.

Look for Xavier to have a decision later this fall. He really wants to take his official visits so he can weigh out everything when it comes to making his decision.

"Honestly, my official visits are going to take precedence. Preferably I want to stay close to home so my parents can come see me and if I want to go home I can. I'm looking for the best place to fit me, the best chance to play and excel in my skills."
