3 Star LB Target

And another one. The coaching staff offered this outside linebacker on Tuesday, bringing his offer total to six. He gives us the latest, what he thinks about the Bobcats and some really candid answers.

A&M Consolidated has had their face share of college programs stopping by this spring and one of the kids drawing eyes from many is Riley Garner. A 6'3" 215lb OLB who runs a 4.52, now has offers from, Colorado, Utah, Texas State, North Texas, Fresno State and Rice. He's got interest from Arkansas, Texas A&M, Iowa State, Tulsa, Duke, and Texas Tech.

Linebackers Coach Brad Franchione visited Consolidated on Monday and let Garner know that he's now a Texas State target.

"Coach Franchione has been up at the school a couple of times to see me. I was talking to Coach Brad last night. He was telling me how good there Marine Biology program is. The river on the campus and being able to do the marine biology is something that really interest's me. I like Science's and I'm looking at that as a possible major," said Garner.

With interest only picking up and more attention on the way for Garner, recruiting can go from fun to a bit of a weight.

"It's awesome to be recruited, but getting highly recruited, it's like eating cake. At first it tastes great, you really like people telling you how great you are. After a while you just want to focus on your high school football," said Garner.

Look for Riley to ride things out through the summer, but he does want to focus on his senior season, so a decision could be coming before his senior campaign for the Tigers.

He's hasnt' been on unofficial visit of the Texas State campus, but he's a little familiar with what San Marcos has to offer.

We always used to passed through San Marcos. We used to go to the river and take a nice cold swim," said Garner.

Academics is clearly a priority for Riley, but to any of those who have any doubts in what he's looking for, he really makes it crystal clear.

"Your going to the school for education, not to play football. For all I know I could tear my ACL or break my femur. I'm going to school for an education."
