No Surprise Here

Since junior day back in early February, this OLB has been high on the board and was a watch candidate. Friday afternoon, Bobcat Coaches had seen enough.

Mid-day Friday, Clay Johnston of Abilene Wylie High School got a message from the Texas State staff to give them a call, good news was waiting.

Wide Receiver's Coach Jason Johnson let him know that he has an offer waiting to be a Bobcat. Johnston kind of knew what was waiting for him.

"I was expecting it eventually, because I'm in contact with Coach Johnson so much," said Johnston.

The Bobcats offer now makes it four scholarships, joining SMU, Duke, Baylor and, now Texas State. TCU, Texas Tech, and UTSA have all been showing strong interest as well.

He recently opened eyes with his performance at the Nike SPARQ combine, scoring off the charts with a 124 plus. At the combine he measured in at 6'1.5" and an even 200lbs.

Texas State likes him at OLB and has let him know that he's coveted. So where do the Bobcats sit with the rising junior?

"I'm definitely considering Texas State. I really do like the coaching staff, they're super nice. That's the biggest thing for me," said Johnston.

He plans on sitting down with his father and having a long talk about all the schools that are recruiting him. Johnston would like to have a decision by the summer so he can focus on his senior year. A decision will eventually come, it's just a matter of sooner or later.
