Julian Allen is a 6'4" 235lb Tight End from Lackawanna JC (PA) who already holds five offers and Texas State could be number six in the near future. Eastern Michigan, South Alabama, UAB, Central Arkansas, and Bethune-Cookman have offers on the table.
Tight Ends Coach Carter English is recruiting Allen and has had consistent contact with him. Right before our update he had spoken with the staff.
"I actually got done talking to him earlier today. They're trying to get me out there for a visit this summer. We're going to figure something out for either an official or unofficial," said Allen.
Out of high school Julian was a non-qualifier. It was either go juco or the prep route. Lackawanna offered him a scholarship and he took it.The good thing is that Allen has flourished not only on the field, but in the classroom. Now in good academic standing he's a mid year guy ready to graduate in December. He'll have 3 years to play 2 at whatever program he chooses.
Allen has never been to Texas and he's not really sure how he landed on the Texas State recruiting radar, but with the program showing strong interest, he's glad to be hearing from the 'Cats.
"My juco coach reaches out to a lot of programs. If I had to guess, my coach reached out to them at some point," said Allen.
Julian projects as a TE at the next level, but he's a threat who can be flexed out to use his size and speed. He's clocked as fast as a 4.49 and consistently runs in the 4.54 range.
"I'm a TE right now, but they also split me out at as a wide receiver. I'll be down for some plays and then flexed out on others. I'll be playing TE at the D1 level for sure," said Allen.
An offer from Texas State would catapult them as Allen admits that they would be pretty high on his list if they did. In the immediate future, he'll be taking an official visit to South Alabama and then head on over to UAB for an unofficial.
