Texas State held a satellite camp at Lake Dallas High School on Wednesday. Denton Guyer High School, home of the defending 4A D1 State Champions is all of five minutes down the road. So the Coaching Staff made sure to let Alex Honey that they wanted him there.
"I got a last minute call from my coach to go to there camp. I got there a few minutes late and the staff pulled me aside. The told me that I had my second offer," said Honey.
Air Force is his other offer at the moment. With Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Louisiana Monroe, and North Texas all showing interest. Honey will be in Stillwater attending Oklahoma State's camp on Saturday.
When Alex showed up he'll be the first to tell you he had no idea an offer was coming. It floored him that much more.
"I was surprised by the offer, pretty surprised. I hadn't talked to them at all really. I'm a little bit familiar with them, I've seen them on TV every now and then. I'm still trying to find stuff out about them," said Honey.
At camp, Honey measured in at 6'4" 197lbs and ran a 4.48 40 yard dash. It's that same size and speed that he plans to use for his senior year and beyond.
"I'm a little bit of a home run threat and a possession wide receiver. They usually like to go deep with me or on key third downs they like to get the ball in my hands. Every now then they'll throw it up to me."
