Commit #4 Is In

In the span of 48 hours, the Bobcats have picked up 2 QB commits and will now be shutting down the position for the rest of the cycle.

Blake Peterson and his family made the eight hour drive from Topeka, Kansas all the way to Lancaster High School for Texas State's camp this past Thursday. The staff had told him if he performed well he'd be getting an offer. He got the good news early on.

"Midway through the camp Coach Fran talked to me and told me I had a scholarship," said Peterson.

Blake picked up his Texas State offer on Thursday, but it only took him two days to know that he wanted to be a Bobcat.

"I called Coach Fran on Saturday night and committed. I've talked to people who've gone to Texas State and they all said it's awesome. I love the coaching staff, they showed the most interest in me by far."

The in for Peterson is that both of his parents were students at Pittsburgh State when Dennis Franchione was the Head Coach there. A former player of Fran's and friend of the family sent the Texas State staff his tape and the rest is now history.

Blake is a 6'3" 195lb Dual Threat QB who ran a 4.65 time at the Lancaster camp. He'll be the first to tell you that he can be a threat from either spot, but he likes airing it out more.

The Bobcats were his first offer with interest picking up from Tulsa and Kansas State recently. With more schools surely to follow pursuit, Peterson says it's a wrap.

"I'm done now. Coach Fran said they'll commit to me. I'm committed to them. I won't be doing anymore camps. I really wanted to do it before my senior year," said Peterson.

Blake knows that there is a good chance he'll red shirt, but nothing is for sure. In getting ready for the next level, there had been talk about Peterson possibly graduating early, but he also stars on the baseball diamond for Washburn and he'll be staying in Topeka to graduate in May of 2015 with the rest of his class.

Texas State now has 4 commits for the 2015 cycle: Peterson, Beck, Gamble, Williams.
