"Since last time we talked, I have received five more offers, from Illinois, Colorado, Arkansas State, UTSA and Purdue. Texas State is still high on my list, but Illinois and Purdue are pursuing me pretty hard right now," said Thompson.
Thompson commented that he would like to have his decision made, ideally before the start of next season. However, he wants to be 100 percent sure and does not want to be one of those guys that commits and and then de-commits. Donta also said that his visits will be the ultimate factor that determines which school he chooses, and doesn't know when he will be able to make it to the schools outside of Texas.
"I want to go to a school with a great academic program. A football program that is thriving to get better and has a good coaching staff, and one that has a family like atmosphere," said Thompson.
This next month could be pivotal in Thompson's recruitment and Texas State does have an advantage being the only in state program that has offered thus far. It's location is a three and a half hour drive and offering early on never hurts either. We'll be sure to knock out any updates if and when Donta visits.
