"Coach Tatum was on me heavy, talking to me about every day. I was the number one player on his board, which made me feel like they really would appreciate my talents, and everyone I talked to said it was a beautiful place," said Manciel.
Manciel chose Texas State over eight other offers, including Western Kentucky, Georgia Southern, Arkansas State, Mississippi State, and Lousiana-Lafayette. Originally Malik was going to hold off on his decision until he was able to make a visit, however he changed his mind and decided to go ahead and get his commitment out of the way.
"I didn't want the whole decision hanging over my head all season, so I decided to go ahead and commit. This way I can focus on my goal of winning an Alabama state championship," said Manciel.
Manciel is another player who says he has not 100 percent shut down his recruitment, however all he is focused on is his goals for his HS team. Manciel also says he will try to make a visit during his bye week in October.
