DE Considering TXST

This DE has already made one visit to Texas State, and has Bobcats near the top of his list. With the DL positions closing up, there could be only one or two available scholarships left for defensive trenchmen.

Derek Watson is a 6'4 220-pound DE with 4.6 speed, who is light on his feet, and able to react to shifty players in the backfield. There is no getting around this force off the end and Texas State is in the mix for his commitment.

Texas State has already reeled in Watson's teammate RB Anthony Taylor and could be close to acquiring WR Alex Honey, a three star prospect out also out of Denton Guyer HS. Watson received his offer at one of the satellite camp in Lake Dallas earlier this spring and took a visit to San Marcos close to a month ago.

"I will most likely wait until the middle of the season to make my decision, I still want to visit a couple of places first, but Texas State is definitely near the top of my list," said Watson.

Watson is currently entertaining offers from Connecticut, North Texas, Louisiana-Monroe, Air Force, Nevada, and Texas State. UConn is one of the schools that Watson is interested in and wants to visit there primarily before he makes any kind of commitment.

"I'm looking for a great program with great vision, and a place with a homey family type environment," said Watson on what he is looking for in a program.

BI will continue to monitor Watson's recruitment and will notify the nation of any new developments. Watson has a long road to go, but with the DL class for 2015 filling up fast, we could potentially see Watson jump in and reserve a place at a school he says is "near the top of his list" before the option is void.
