Commit Tracker: Nick Bingham

This El Paso RB surprised some with his commitment as BobcatIllustrated broke the news at the end of June. Our staff checks in as he starts his senior year.

Nick Bingham of El Paso Franklin High School exploded onto Texas State's recruiting radar with a stellar performance at the Lancaster Camp. From there, it was just over a month and a half later that he committed to the 'Cats.

Since then, he visited the Texas State campus for the first time back in the first week of August and our BI staff was able to catch up with him.

"The campus was beautiful. The visit was awesome, I got to talk with the coaches. Got to clear up any questions that I had about the program," said Bingham.

Texas State is set to only lose one senior at the RB spot this season, Terrence Franks, but will have to replace three seniors after 2015 in Robert Lowe, Chris Nutall, and Tim Gay. Hence why the staff has decided to take 2 RB commits for this cycle. Bingham is the big, bruising back that Head Coach Dennis Franchione likes to deploy. On his visit, the staff let him know that they have high expectations for him and to be ready when he arrives in San Marcos.

"They told me that they don't plan on red shirting me and that I would be given the chance to play early on," said Bingham.
