LB Target Thinking Visit

This DFW LB holds several offers and Texas State is the latest to throw their hat in the ring. BI caught up with one of the newest targets for the Bobcats.

Austin Corbett is a 6'4 220lb LB out of Plano East HS, who is rated a thee star prospect by our Scout.com National Recruiting Analysts. Corbett's 4.6 speed, size and strength, make him dangerous in pursuit and a high commodity at the next level.

Currently Corbett holds 10 offers: UTSA, SMU, Harvard, Cornell, Navy, Air Force, Nevada, Texas State, New Mexico, and Louisiana Monroe. Defensive Line Coach Mike Hudson is the lead recruiter on Corbett, in which Corbett says that he talks to him through twitter, text messages and phone calls on at least a bi-weekly basis. Austin had planned to make a visit to Texas State sometime this September, and with Navy being one of his offers, next Saturday looks to be a prime opportunity for him to take a look at two of his potential schools.

"I want a relationship with the coaches and players at the school I ultimately choose," said Corbett. "I just mostly want to be able to see myself being able to spend four years of my life there. My visit is the biggest factor for me and the school I choose."

In Corbett's Junior Season he recorded 66 tackles, 13 TFL, as well as three sacks, and 1 INT. Austin's current top five in no order is: UTSA, Cornell, SMU, Navy, and New Mexico.

"Texas State is my newest offer, so i am still trying to do more research and learn more about them," said Corbett. "I plan on taking a visit to San Marcos, sometime in September, and if they impress me, they definitely have a chance to break into my top five."

A win versus Navy could be huge for the Bobcats, and Corbett is one potential big reward if Texas State can notch a win. Decision time is approaching for Corbett as he would like to have his decision in by the fifth or sixth game of the season.
