Hoops Commit #1
South of Forth Worth, just off of I-35W, you'll find Everman High School. It serves as home to the newest Texas State basketball commit in Ka'Juan Malveau (KJ). The 5'10" 165lb point guard committed to the Texas State staff late Sunday evening after returning home and having to think it over for a few hours. "The visit was actually pretty fun. I decided to choose Texas State because it's close to home and my parents can come to the games and it's not that much travel. I like Coach Kaspar because of his resume, wherever he's been he's won. I also had a good bond with the players, felt a part of the team, on and off the court right away," said Malveau. While on the visit, he got the entire tour of what Texas State has to offer. He took in the campus, dorms, places to eat, visit, the athletic facilities and of course acquainting him with the all important academic center. It only took a matter of hours after getting home that KJ called up the staff and let them know he was ready to be a Bobcat. He chose Texas State over offers from Texas-Arlington, Northern Colorado, Southern, and Arkansas-Fort Smith. Bigger programs such as Creighton and Virginia Tech had also been showing more interest as of late. On the floor, Malveau is extremely quick and has no problem in slashing and getting to the hole. He can also stop on a dime and use nice range to drain mid-range jumper or the 3-ball. Whether it's getting a bucket or facilitating, KJ can do either. With the early signing period only two months away, Malveau says he's currently done with recruiting, but everything just depends on timing and if any other doors open. We could see him sign in November or, possibly wait until the regular signing period in April. Malveau is the first commit for Head Coach Danny Kaspar and the 2015 class. With three seniors, expect the Bobcats to sign at least 3 recruits for this cycle.
