Athlete Takes Visit

This athlete is seeing his recruitment start to heat up and is getting some attention from some big time schools. BI caught up with this prospect after his visit for the Louisiana-Lafayette game.

Sabian Cannon is a 6'0 165-pound speedster, who is elusive and bursts through tight seams to take off down field with 4.44 speed. Cannon plays quarterback for McCallum HS, but is projected as a WR/DB at the next level.

Cannon currently is receiving interest from schools like, Tulsa, California, TCU, New Mexico, Ohio, and Texas State. There are no official offers on the table for Sabian, however pending his SAT scores, the first could be on its way soon.

"One of the big advantages for Texas State is that they are only a little less than an hour away from home, and that is one of the biggest things for me. Other than distance from home, I would like to go to a school that has a good Engineering program," said Cannon.

He was at the ULL game for his second visit to San Marcos. Sabian had some comments on what his impression was following the visit.

"I really like the atmosphere, the girls showing us around were definitely a plus. I didn't know they were going to bring us down on the field and everything, it was a really cool experience," said Cannon.

Only time will tell if Sabian will turn into a target for the Bobcats, however speed is one thing that you can't coach, and he has plenty of it. With some work in the weight room and a few more pounds to his frame, Cannon could end up being an interesting prospect at the next level.
