Get To Know: ULM

Let’s learn a little more about the Bobcats upcoming opponent, the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks.

Louisiana Monroe comes into this game with a 3-3 overall record and is looking to crack .500 with a win over Texas State Saturday evening. They have lost their last 2 games in a row, and would like to get back on the winning track. They like'em close though, all 3 wins this season have been by 7 points or less.

ULM History
The Warhawk Football program began in 1931. Since then they have built a decent program that has claimed 5 conference titles, 4 in the Southland conference and 1 in the Sun Belt. They also claimed the 1AA championship title in 1987. They played in division 1AA from 1974-1993, before moving up to D1 football where they played as an Independent from 1994-2000, joining the Sun Belt Conference in 2001. The Warhawks claim 2012 to be the “Magical Season”, in that year they beat #8 ranked Arkansas, for the biggest win in school history and knocking the Razorbacks out of the top 25. They then went on to play amazing football against Auburn the next week, losing by 3, then against Baylor, losing by 7. They went on to finish 8-4 that year and claimed a birth in the 1st bowl in school history, losing to Ohio University 45-14, in the Independence bowl. Arguably, the 2nd biggest win in program history is a 21-14 win over Alabama in 2007 where the Warhawks where 25 point underdogs.
