Another Juco DB Target

Texas State is looking to the Juco ranks to bring in experience and talent for the secondary. Set to lose two DB's, the staff has targeted another Juco corner.

When you are near 15 college scholarships, there will be reasons why programs are after you. With Arthur Maulet, it's simple to see. He leads the NJCAA with 19 PBU's, and is 3rd with 5 interceptions. One of his picks he turned into a "Pick 6".

Maulet is a 5'11" 205lb cornerback who plays for Copiah-Lincoln Junior College (MS). He and his teammates finished the season 6-2 and are now set for their playoff game versus Northwest Mississippi JC.

His most recent offer just came in from Texas State and it did catch him by surprise, but he was happy the Bobcats returned with an offer.

"The offer from Texas State, they came up here in the spring, I talked to the coach, I wasn't in contact since then. Last night (Sunday), it just came by surprise. I was excited about it, they offered me. They were impressed with my play," said Maulet.

His stats show that he has cover corner abilities, but Arthur says he can also play tight and in the box.

"I feel like I'm an all around corner. I can come up and make the tackle, cover you, and play zone. I'm a very physical guy. I'm very comfortable with whatever they want me to do," said Maulet.

Texas State is recruiting him as a cornerback, a possible replacement for departing senior Craig Mager. He has informed the staff that he will not be a mid year transfer, he is set to graduate in May. When he does, he will have 3 years to play 2 on the field, with a red shirt year in his pocket.

Although the Bobcats just jumped back into the picture, Maulet likes Texas State and is very intrigued. He's done some homework on the program and is really interested in visiting San Marcos.

"I like Texas State. After Coach Tatum called me, I did some research on-line and I like the facilities, I like their field. It looks like it's somewhere I can play. They'll get one of my visits, they're in my Top 5."
