Georgia Southern 8-3 (7-0)
If last week told a story, it was not a pretty one for Georgia Southern. They traveled to Annapolis to play Navy and left without much to show for it. Falling 52-19. While this doesn't affect the conference front runners, it make lower some esteem and make them more vulnerable for their final game of the season on 11/29 against ULM.
Louisiana Lafayette 7-3 (6-0)
The Ragin' Cajuns won Saturday and now possess the wooden boot trophy after beating ULM, 34-27 in the Battle of the Bayou. They play host to Appalachian St. this week and this could prove to be an interesting game as App. St. is seemingly on the rise, and playing well.
Arkansas State 6-4 (4-2)
Arkansas St. fell victim to the Mountaineers last week 37-32, in what was one of the bigger conference upsets of the week. They travel to Texas State for a Thursday night game, after only 5 days’ rest. Win probability all depends on which Texas St. team shows up, but the Red Wolves are favored in this one.
Appalachian St. 5-5 (4-2)
The mountaineers showed a lot of toughness Saturday holding off Arkansas St. to win, 37-32 and we now see the once struggling team making an upward push in the conference standings. App. St. travels to Louisiana this week to take on the number 2 team in the conference, and have a lot of confidence going with them, expect a battle with ULL Saturday.
South Alabama 6-4 (5-3)
The Jaguars showed resiliency last Saturday, storming back on Texas St. in the second half after trailing by double digits. Not only did the come back on the 'Cats, but they hel them out of the end zone from the 2 yd line as time expired. S. Alabama travels to SEC country this week to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks, they are overwhelming underdogs, but you never know.
Texas St. 5-5 (3-3)
Texas St. seems to have beaten themselves Saturday, allowing S. Alabama to dominate the 2nd half, and beat them in the final minutes. Texas St. is a team looking for an identity right now, as they continue to struggle to play a 4 quarter game. The Bobcats welcome Arkansas st. to Jim Wacker Field on Thursday night in what is a huge game for both teams. This is the “Pack Bobcat Stadium” game for the Cats, so expect a loud crowd, and hopefully not many empty seats.
Troy 3-8 (3-4)
The Trojans continue to rise in the standings as they beat Idaho last week for a second straight win. They have a bye week this week to prepare for Louisiana Lafayette on the 29that home. ULL will be favored but don’t expect Troy to lay down for this one, they have a little swagger back in their step.
UL Monroe 3-7 (2-4)
ULM played a tough game against one of the best teams in the conference last week, and almost walked away with the win, but in the end fell to their rival 34-27. Next they travel to New Mexico next week to take on the Aggies who are 9th in the conference, but are coming off a bye, so they should be rested. This could prove to be a very interesting game.
New Mexico St. 2-8 (1-5)
The Aggies are coming off a much needed bye week, and welcome Louisiana Monroe into their home Saturday. This game won’t affect the top of the conference as both teams find themselves in the lower half of the leader boards.
Idaho 1-9 (1-6)
Idaho has all but given up on this season, especially after falling to Troy last week 34-17. The Vandals face the task of traveling to Appalachian st. to play a rising team, but they will have a week extra to get ready for them, with a bye week. It couldn’t have come at a better time, and maybe they can put together a plan to derail the Mountaineers fast track rise.
Georgia St. 1-9 ( 0-7)
The Panthers continue to be the image of all things bad football. Coming off a bye week, Things do not look good for Georgia St. this week as they travel to Clemson to take on the Tigers. Don’t expect much of a game in this one, as the Tigers should roll to an impressive victory. The only positive Georgia St. has, is adding some funding to the program.
