Juco LB Offered
During the month of November in a span of three days, Texas State picked up three defensive high school commits (London, Anderson, and Walker), all who could end up playing linebacker. Of those, Kerry Walker is more in the mold of a hybrid and could end up playing D-End, but Bryan London and Bo Anderson will be lining up behind the d-line. Recently, another Linebacker was targeted, and this time it's at the Juco level. Anthony Ocasio, who goes by his middle name of Austin, is a 6'2" 225lb defensive standout for the College of the Siskiyous, reeled in an offer from the staff. "I did a little research on them. I know they're in the Sun Belt Conference, wear Adidas, they're the Bobcats, and they recently moved up into the FBS," said Ocasio. Currently, the Bobcats are his second offer, joining the New Mexico Lobos. He's set to visit Georgia State this coming weekend and hopes that his visit turns into an offer when he touches down in Atlanta. Ocasio will be a mid year transfer, enrolling in January to whichever program he commits and signs with. He will have 3 years left to play 2, with his red shirt year in his back pocket. On the field, he credits his ability to make plays, the reason he'll have a chance to play at the next level. "I think I'm a game changer. I'll make that play to set the tone and change the flow of the game," said Ocasio. The Bobcat staff offered Ocasio through his Coach so he hasn't had the chance to talk about a specific position, but he can play inside or out in a 4-2-5 scheme. It makes no difference to him. With the mid year signing period just over two weeks away, he hopes to have a decision soon, but remains completely open in the process. "I'm thinking to decide on a school probably by Christmas break, most likely before that. They're (Texas State) my top school, but I want to get to know them a little more, get to visit them and learn more," said Ocasio. As a junior in high school, Ocasio suffered a serious knee injury which he's been fully recovered from. That led to him going under recruited his senior year and he opted to go the Juco route in order to have a shot at playing D1 ball. Look for the Texas State staff to get Austin on a visit as the Juco mid year signing period is just days away.
