2015 Eligbility Pipeline

Texas State is set to lose 18 scholarshiped seniors. BobcatIllustrated takes a look at who's returning and their eligibility.

The 2014 season has been Texas State's most successful in Dennis Franchione's second go around, and there's serious potential of still playing in a bowl game. BobcatIllustrated is just taking a quick look at how the roster will look come next season. We're breaking down our "Eligibility Pipeline" of scholarshiped players into a multiple piece write-up. We're starting first with the defense.

**Listed year of eligibility is for 2015**

Defensive Ends (6)

Brian Guendling Jr.
Roosevelt Pearson RS Jr.
Karee Berry RS So.
Jeff Banks RS So.
Cedric Gambrell RS Fr.
Cody Casey Fr. *2014 "Gray Shirt"

Seniors Lost: Michael Odiari, Kris Peterson, Marcus Dallas Jr., Thomas Evans

This group loses a lot with Mike Odiari graduating. He served as the unit's one true consistent pass rusher. The good is that Berry and Banks rotated as starters opposite of Odiari down the stretch. Guendling did show flashes in limited PT. This will be his chance to fight and earn more snaps. Of this group, all are young and have 2-4 years remaining on campus.

Currently, Texas State has 3 commitments from potential defensive ends for 2015; Myles Cheatum, Malik Manciel, and Kerry Walker. Cheatum could end up seeing time on offense and Walker could be a hybrid at the OLB spot.

Defensive Tackles (6)

Mershad Dillon Sr.
Dondre Elvoid Sr.
Rusmin Nikocevic Sr.
Darius Hood RS Jr.
Dallas McClarty Jr.
Will Trevillion RS So.

Seniors Lost: None

As the season wore on Mershad Dillon cemented himself as one of two starters along with junior to be Dallas McClarty. Although undersized, McClarty consistently would make plays in the backfield with penetration and hold is own against bigger opposing offensive lineman.

The Bobcats have potentially 3 commitments from defensive tackles for the 2015 class: Landon Beck, Josh Uluocha, and Dustin McWhorter.

Up next, we'll look at the linebackers.
