O-lineman Gets 6th Offer

The staff is looking to add 1-2 more O-lineman for this class and have identified this Pearland High School offensive lineman as a target.

Earlier this week, Texas State extended an offer to Willie Williams of Pearland HS. The 6'2.5" 286lb offensive lineman had been talking with the Bobcat Staff for a while now and was really pumped to hear about the offer.

"It was exciting, I was waiting on it. I had spoken with Coach Bedell and he said to wait a little bit, he was going to find his tackles first and then his inside guys. I was excited that he kept me in mind," said Williams.

He also spoke with Head Coach Dennis Franchione and Coach Fran let him know that they would be very happy to have him as a Bobcat. Williams said his conversation with Texas State's top man was a very good talk.

With his offer in hand, Willie now has six them: New Mexico, New Mexico State, Fresno State, Sam Houston State University and McNeese State. Colorado State has not offered, but continues to show interest.

Texas State likes Williams at the inside guard spot. This season he lined up outside at tackle for the Oilers, but he's played at every spot throughout his high school career. TXST evaluated his junior film when he lined up at guard, and the staff saw enough to offer.

He's set up his official visit for the weekend of January 16th. He'll make the trek to San Marcos and get an in depth perspective of what Texas State has to offer.

"They want to get me on campus. If I'm going to pursue my education with any school I want to be comfortable with the campus and the college life. With my recruiting process, it's been back and forth, and programs change their mind. I just really want to call a place home."
