Commit Recap And Scholarship Numbers

The good news officially started coming in bright and early Sunday morning. Within a few hours, Texas State picked up 3 commitments. Here's our recap of the newest pledges.

In this order, Bobcatillustrated confirmed and broke the news that Jordan Mittie, Lumi Kaba, and Javante O'Roy all committed to Texas State on Sunday.

Mittie is a 6'2" 210lb linebacker who attended the Navy Preparatory school this fall before preparing to enroll into Annapolis. Originally a part of the 2013 class, Jordan graduated from Texas High School power, Aledo.

In his 2013 highlight tape, the majority of time Mittie lines up as a middle linebacker. He shows good quickness, the ability to read plays, and scrapes downhill as if his hair were on fire. He's the 5th linebacker commit of the 2015 class. Mittie is a mid year transfer and will be on campus in January.

Kaba was the second of our confirmed commitments. The 6'2" 180lb specialist will serve as both a kicker and punter to start. He's got a powerful leg and consistently put kickoff's out of the end zone. As a punter he constantly flipped field position with his leg.

Lumi is currently at Tyler Junior College and will not be arriving to Texas State until May or the beginning of summer.

Just after 11am, Bobcatillustrated learned of Javante O'Roy's decision to commit right before he boarded his plane. The 6'1" 180lb cornerback had a great visit and informed BI that he was making the decision. O'Roy hails from Palomar JC, where he was teammates with current Texas State D-End Brian Guendling. His addition is key with the graduation of longtime DB staple, Craig Mager. O'Roy will also be a mid-year transfer and enroll in January with 3 years to play 2.

Here's a quick breakdown at the scholarship numbers counting towards the 2015 class:

Current 2015 commits: 23
Transfer(1) on Campus: 1 (Easy Anyama)

Of the current commits, Chris French, Jordan MIttie, Teron Fitzgerald and Javante O'Roy are set to be mid-year transfers.

D-End Cody Casey from the 2014 class took a "Gray Shirt" and will also be on campus in January. His scholarship is counting back towards the 2014 class, a direct source confirmed to BI. Most recently the class was expected to be full at 24, but as of Sunday we are hearing there could still be 2-4 more commits added.

We'll have more along with some quotes from the newest commits shortly.
