DL Commit Says He's Solid

This D-line commit has had plenty of suitors after him and even an SEC team flirted with an offer. In the end, he's a solid commit to TXST, and now has his visit set.

The Florence Falcons (AL) enjoyed another successful season and a deep run into the Alabama State playoffs. They ended with an 11-3 overall record and just shy of reaching the state title game. Texas State D-line commit Malik Manciel was a key part to the Falcons winning ways and now he's getting ready to play Division 1 football.

"The season was good. I had 8 battled balls, 6 or 7 sacks, and I finished 2nd or 3rd on the team with tackles for a loss. Right now I'm working out with the team, lifting weights and running," said Manciel.

Since our last update in August with the 6'3" 255lb D-lineman, the only new offer he's picked up has been from Memphis. The Arkansas Razorbacks were high on him and were urging him to visit, but an offer never followed, and neither did his visit.

D-Tackles Coach Kyle Tatum is the staff member responsible for his recruitment and Manciel says that he and Coach Tatum always stay in contact through social media. He's also decided to set up his official visit for Texas State and will he heading to San Marcos on the weekend of January 23rd.

As of right now Manciel believes he's going to get first crack at playing inside at defensive tackle. He could also play outside at defensive end, as he did this past season for his high school team. It doesn't make any difference to him.

While currently in a dead period, Malik maintains that he's a solid commit to Texas State and that there won't be too many changes in his recruitment if any. Manciel is potentially just 1 of 6 D-line commits for the Bobcats 2015 class, assuming that Kerry Walker and Myles Cheatum also stay on the D-line.
