Ready To "Gamble"

Back in May, this target became the second commitment of Texas State’s 2015 recruiting class. He recently took his official visit to campus and we caught up with him for the latest.

Justin Gamble has finished his football career at Stony Point high school. The Tigers came up just one game shy of making the playoffs after not going since 2011 where they lost in the State semi-final game to the eventual State Champions, Euless Trinity. They finished their season 6-4 overall.

“We missed out on the playoffs by one game, our district is pretty tough,” said Gamble.

Justin finished his senior season with 52 receptions for 863 yards and 9 touchdowns, and added 973 all-purpose yards. He was also voted 1st team All District 13-6A.

Now that football is over Gamble is keeping himself busy as he awaits fall camp at Texas State.

“I’m just working out with other players right now, working out, and working a job,” said Gamble.

In the past, Justin has had the chance to take a few unofficial visits to Texas State, but the time came for his official visit to Texas State last weekend and he really enjoyed the process.

“It was real fun, I like the players and coaches. They’re like really family orientated, and the wide receivers coach (Jason Johnson) is real cool,” said Gamble.

With signing day right around the corner, Gamble is ready to make things official. He quit his recruiting process last may when he verbally committed to the Bobcats.

“I am still a solid commit. Colorado has been talking to me a little, the coach come to my school and said he wanted me to take a visit, but I am going to Texas State,” said Gamble.

He was the only true WR committed until a week ago when Butler Junior College transfer Kwamane Bowens also decided to join the 'Cats. Word is that fellow commit Bralon Hutchison will also get used as a wideout, much in the same capacity as C.J. Best.

Standing at a solid 6’1” and weighing in around 177lbs, Gamble knows he’s going to have to put on some weight at the next level. With that being said, he is still ready to compete coming into fall camp in hopes of getting a starting spot and contributing right away.
