Javier Edwards Commit (With Quotes)

This wrecking ball on the defensive front could be a game changer in his first year in maroon and gold, but we must wait to see if he qualifies academically. Here's the latest on why he chose TXST and more.

6'4 330lb Javier Edwards has both prototypical size and the athleticism to dominate the line of scrimmage from the D-tackle position. He was told by the coaching staff that he has a great chance to get some early playing time, provided he gets his grades in order.

Edwards chose Texas State over several P5 schools including Ole' Miss, Mississippi State, Iowa State, and Purdue among others. With so many options he still chose the Bobcats and you might like his answer why.

"I love the people there, the players, the coaches, I felt like I had an instant connection during my visit. They are a school on the rise, I love being the underdog, and it's close to home," said Edwards.

It was already known that Javier was a potential grade risk, but the coaches are taking a chance on this raw physical specimen out of Houston, Texas. He will have one last hurdle to clear before he will officially become a Bobcat.

"All we are waiting on is my SAT scores and I feel confident that I will get good news," said Edwards.
