Grading The Class: Offense

With 25 commitments, our staff breaks down the offensive and defensive commits for Texas State, and hands out the grades now that LOI's have been signed.

We start with the Texas State signees on the offensive side of the ball.

Quarterbacks (2)
Grade: B
L.G. Williams (5'10" 195lbs) and Blake Peterson (6'3" 195lbs)
Texas State filled up early with it's two signal callers for the class, both committed on back to back days in June. Both dual threats, although undersized, Williams has a gun for an arm. Peterson has a lot of similarities to current Bobcat QB Tyler Jones. From his frame to style of play. Williams is a 3 Star prospect who is a proven winner at the highest level in Texas High School Football. Peterson is a 2 Star and both are expected to red shirt.

Running Backs (3)
Grade: B-
Nick Bingham (5'11" 200lbs), Anthony Taylor (5'10" 175lbs), Tyler Siudzinski (5'10" 200lbs)
Similar to the QB's, this position was wrapped up early, with the exception of Siudzinki who was a surprise signee. Bingham is a more physical, bruising runner who has deceptive speed and can run inside or out. Is already a load to handle, adding 10-20lbs before the fall would make him even more punishing. Taylor is a home run threat and capable of finding the end zone once he gets the ball. Has legit 4.4 speed, and will make you miss in open space, is also dangerous out of the backfield catching the ball. Both rated as 2 Star prospects. Siudzinski is similar to Bingham in build and is a tough runner who has the frame to run inside or out as well.

Wide Receivers (3)
Grade: B+
Justin Gamble (6'0" 175lbs), Bralon Hutchison (5'11" 170lbs), Kwamane Bowens (6'1" 203lbs)
Picked up three talented play-makers. Gamble has good size to be a quality possession WR, and has enough speed to also go down-field. Will catch anything thrown his way. Hutchison is a game changer, with 4.3 speed. Will be used like C.J. Best in many roles and the Bobcats Coaching Staff simply wants to get him on the field. Is explosive, quick and has great agility. Bowens has played at the D1 level already and also has sub 4.4 speed to help spread defenses. Because of his frame, Bowens can also be used across the middle as well. Gamble is a 3 Star prospect, Hutchison is a 2 Star, and Bowens is also a 2 Star.

Tight Ends (1)
Grade: B-
Chris French (6'4" 245lbs)
Is a mid year signee already on campus who has 3 years to play on the field. Brings good size in order to be physical and hold his own in the trenches when blocking. Has developed into a pass catching threat especially over the middle and in the possession game. Rated a 3 Star prospect by

Offensive Line (3)
Grade: C+
Jacob Rowland (6'5" 290lbs), Kregg Lemmons (6'4" 275lbs), Willie Williams (6'3" 265lbs)
Rowland will play tackle while Lemmons could play tackle or guard. Williams is likely to see action at center. Overall the three are a solid group who have good frames, but can add strength. Lemmons and Williams will have to add weight, but after a red shirt year expect them to easily be in the 285-290 range. Both also bring versatility in being able to play multiple positions. Rowland has a D1 frame already and will look to bolster the depth at the tackle position down the line.

Kicker (1)
Grade: B-
Lumi Kaba (6'2" 180lbs)
A versatile specialist who can do all three: kick FG's, kickoffs and punting. Texas State will have him first try at field goals and kickoffs. Is a Juco signee who will be a May transfer and have 3 years left to play 2. Has above average accuracy with a strong leg.
